The lines are deliberate, the washes are deliberate: every mark feels intentional, every hue deliberate. It’s the kind of print that invites closer looking, that rewards the eye with its precision and restraint. Here, water isn’t just depicted—it’s felt, through the tension between the green wash’s depth and the light blue’s luminosity. The composition balances these elements with a hand-drawn fluidity, as if Hockney himself had traced the scene with a single, confident line. The result is a sense of movement without chaos, of stillness without flatness. The green wash grounds the piece, its richness evoking the quiet strength of a pool’s edge or the calm before a wave. The light blue wash, meanwhile, lifts the scene, its transparency suggesting the air above water or the sky reflected in its surface. Together, they create a mood that’s at once serene and alive—a perfect balance for a space that needs both calm and vibrancy. This isn’t just a print; it’s a fragment of Hockney’s approach to Pop Art, where everyday subjects like water become something extraordinary through bold color and crisp linework. His style thrives on the contrast between the ordinary and the extraordinary, the domestic and the dramatic. Think of the sunlit pools of A Bigger Splash, but distilled into a single, contemplative moment. The colors are flat yet vibrant, the lines are graphic yet organic—this is the kind of art that feels both timeless and utterly modern. The finish is matte, which suits the image’s understated elegance, allowing the green and blue washes to breathe without competing with glare. Whether hung in a gallery-style frame or displayed under glass, it carries the same weight as the original. This print belongs in spaces where art feels like a natural extension of the room. Imagine it above a mid-century modern sofa in a colorful living room, where the green wash echoes the tones of a velvet armchair and the light blue wash complements a pale wall. It would also make a striking addition to a bright modern bedroom, where the lines of the print echo the clean geometry of a minimalist nightstand. It’s the kind of piece that transforms a blank wall into a conversation starter, a quiet focal point that invites admiration without demanding attention. Whether given as a gift for an art lover’s birthday or added to a new home’s collection, this print is a lasting piece worth displaying. It’s not just decor—it’s a slice of Hockney’s world, brought into your space with the same confidence as the original. Let it be the print that makes your walls feel like they’re holding a secret.","brand":"Hockney Prints","offers":[{"title":"30x45 cm \/ 12x18″","offer_id":50517063827590,"sku":"4d1ade48-0940-40ec-915d-778f7999beb3","price":79.98,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true},{"title":"40x60 cm \/ 16x24″","offer_id":50517063860358,"sku":"1c2f9635-3320-484b-857b-cc65f1c2a77c","price":119.99,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true},{"title":"60x90 cm \/ 24x36″","offer_id":50517063893126,"sku":"7459d62f-8a69-4515-8476-cc4a1cf4d8d0","price":149.99,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true},{"title":"100x150 cm \/ 40x60″","offer_id":50517063925894,"sku":"fd00c3b4-ac5a-42c5-a2f0-f984f6f2ad74","price":209.99,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0714\/1618\/4966\/files\/8220daac-0ca3-446f-8d0d-ea84d9375e52.webp?v=1790276853","url":"https:\/\/davidhockneyartworks.com\/products\/lithograph-of-water-made-of-lines-a-green-wash-and-a-light-blue-wash-by-david-hockney-poster","provider":"Hockney Prints","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
