{"product_id":"dog-etching-no-5-by-david-hockney-poster","title":"Dog Etching No. 5 by David Hockney – Poster","description":"The work sits at the intersection of graphic clarity and emotional restraint, a rare Hockney etching where form speaks louder than color. This is not the sun-drenched California of his famous pools or the vivid double portraits; instead, it’s a study in negative space and deliberate contrast, where the absence of hue makes the composition breathe. The ink is laid down with surgical precision, each line a deliberate stroke that guides the eye across the page in a slow, contemplative loop. The balance is near perfect: the dog’s form, though minimal, commands attention without dominating, while the surrounding emptiness feels like an invitation to pause and look closer. There’s a tension here, subtle but undeniable—a quiet dialogue between presence and absence, between the solid black of the etching and the white paper that holds it. The mood is one of calm intensity, a stillness that feels almost meditative, as if the subject has been captured in a moment of perfect stillness, untouched by the world outside the frame. The black ink doesn’t just fill space; it carves it, creating depth where there was once only flatness. This isn’t a print meant to overwhelm—it’s one to sit with, to let the mind wander into the negative spaces, to appreciate the beauty in restraint. It’s the kind of David Hockney print that feels like a breath of fresh air in a room full of louder, more chaotic art. The contrast between the dense black and the stark white creates a visual rhythm that’s both soothing and engaging, perfect for those who appreciate minimalist pop art poster or contemplative black and white wall decor. The work belongs to the same lineage as his later iPad drawings, where simplicity becomes sophistication, and where the act of creation is as much about what’s left out as what’s included. Hockney’s hand is unmistakable here—whether in his California-inspired home styling or his ability to distill complex emotions into clean, graphic lines. This etching is a reminder that Pop Art isn’t just about bright colors and bold statements; it can also be about quiet reflection, about the power of negative space, and about the beauty of simplicity. The Poster reproduces this work with meticulous care, using archival inks that ensure the lines remain sharp and the contrast vivid for decades. The paper is acid-free, the finish matte, allowing the ink to sit flat without competing with the image. It’s the kind of wall art that doesn’t just hang on a wall—it becomes part of the room, a focal point that draws the eye without demanding attention. Place it in a colorful living room against a neutral backdrop, and the black will pop with a dramatic contrast. In a minimalist bedroom, it adds depth without clutter, its clean lines complementing modern furniture and soft lighting. For a mid century pop art print collection, it bridges the gap between graphic design and fine art, offering a piece that’s both grounded and aspirational. Whether you’re gifting it to an art lover for a housewarming or treating yourself to a lasting piece, this David Hockney poster is more than decor—it’s a conversation starter, a quiet reflection on the beauty of simplicity. It’s the kind of modern statement wall art that feels intentional, that grows with the space it inhabits. And because it’s a true reproduction, you’re not just getting a print; you’re getting a piece of Hockney’s legacy, brought into your home with the same care and precision as the original.","brand":"Hockney Prints","offers":[{"title":"30x45 cm \/ 12x18″","offer_id":50516896284806,"sku":"167ffb62-994a-429a-b1d8-d8bb30d214eb","price":79.98,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true},{"title":"40x60 cm \/ 16x24″","offer_id":50516896317574,"sku":"5aa5ca92-245b-45ab-8347-9b1618db0cee","price":119.99,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true},{"title":"60x90 cm \/ 24x36″","offer_id":50516896350342,"sku":"8d1ade18-9a75-4481-a36d-caa6b2f282a5","price":149.99,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true},{"title":"100x150 cm \/ 40x60″","offer_id":50516896383110,"sku":"8f120f85-8257-49cd-9553-29d4542a9383","price":209.99,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0714\/1618\/4966\/files\/c933bf5b-2d9b-47a4-842f-bf773aa71761.webp?v=1790274051","url":"https:\/\/davidhockneyartworks.com\/products\/dog-etching-no-5-by-david-hockney-poster","provider":"Hockney Prints","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
