{"product_id":"afternoon-swimming-by-david-hockney-canvas-print","title":"Afternoon Swimming by David Hockney – Canvas Print","description":"The scene unfolds with the clarity of a snapshot, yet the precision of a painter’s hand, where every stroke feels deliberate and alive. A man stands at the edge of a pool, his body angled toward the water, while a woman emerges from its depths, her arms raised as if embracing the moment. The composition balances effortless movement with quiet stillness, drawing the eye across the scene in a rhythm as natural as the ripples on the water’s surface. The palette is a celebration of summer itself: the deep turquoise of the pool, the warm ochre of the sunbaked deck, and the crisp white of the swimmer’s towel, all set against a sky that feels like it could be stretched across an entire wall. The colors sit flat but luminous, their saturation so vivid it feels as though the light itself has been bottled and poured onto canvas. There’s a sense of joy here, unforced and unapologetic, the kind that makes a room feel lighter just by looking at it. The turquoise of the pool isn’t just blue—it’s the kind of blue that makes you think of a clear afternoon, the kind that lingers in your mind long after you’ve left the water. The ochre tones on the deck and furniture ground the scene, adding warmth and texture, while the white of the swimmer’s towel and the pale green of the background create a sense of openness, as if the entire scene could stretch on forever. This isn’t just a swimming pool; it’s a snapshot of a life lived in full, bright color. David Hockney’s work is tied to the Pop Art movement, where everyday moments are elevated to the status of art. His style is defined by clean, cheerful color blocks, crisp lines, and a celebration of light and life, all of which are on full display here. The flat, uncluttered shapes and the bold, unshaded colors are hallmarks of Hockney’s approach, making this print a perfect match for those who love bright modern wall art or maximalist colorful home decor. The texture of the canvas enhances the vibrancy of the scene, making the turquoise of the pool and the ochre of the deck feel almost tactile. Whether hung in a living room as a statement piece or in a bedroom to bring a touch of sunny California to a space, this print thrives. The bold colors pair beautifully with neutral walls, allowing the artwork to stand out, or they can complement a more colorful room, tying the space together with a sense of harmony. It works equally well in a mid-century modern home, where the clean lines and bright hues fit seamlessly, or in a more traditional space, where the vibrant colors add a modern twist. For those who love to collect art or gift something meaningful, this print is a thoughtful choice. It’s the kind of piece that feels like a conversation starter, something that invites guests to ask about the artist or the story behind the scene. Whether it’s a housewarming gift for a new homeowner, a surprise for an art lover, or a way to decorate a new office space, Afternoon Swimming brings a piece of Hockney’s joyful world into any room. It’s more than just wall art—it’s a lasting addition to a collection, a focal point that brings calm or uplift to a space, and a genuine David Hockney print that belongs in a modern home. There’s no need to overthink it; this is the kind of artwork that feels right the moment it’s hung. It’s a print that does what great art should: it makes you smile, it makes a room feel alive, and it’s the kind of piece you’ll reach for when you want to remind yourself of what matters.","brand":"Hockney Prints","offers":[{"title":"30x45 cm \/ 12x18″","offer_id":50522225868934,"sku":"32fa8b0b-7ac2-47fd-a8bf-5fcfc1547c78","price":139.99,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true},{"title":"50x75 cm \/ 20x30″","offer_id":50522225901702,"sku":"bfc23ef6-9d21-4ca6-8425-a3beb02b4f32","price":209.99,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true},{"title":"60x90 cm \/ 24x36″","offer_id":50522225934470,"sku":"a75d9ea3-e906-41ea-b357-6ae458e6ea6e","price":249.99,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true},{"title":"70x100 cm \/ 28x40″","offer_id":50522225967238,"sku":"51748ab1-bbc9-4506-805b-db471cdd1266","price":309.99,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0714\/1618\/4966\/files\/28cc1837-0574-43fd-af74-710579e95839.webp?v=1790412608","url":"https:\/\/davidhockneyartworks.com\/products\/afternoon-swimming-by-david-hockney-canvas-print","provider":"Hockney Prints","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
